There’s something about the simple act of capturing a bit of earth in a bowl and growing a plant that links us to our gardening ancestors in a really primal way. To nurture the earth at close quarters, and also use it to create beauty, are skills as old as time.
As designers, we have the opportunity to add great depth and sparkle to our work with the skillful use of containers. As gardeners, we can explore the different dimensions that containers give to the beauty and productivity of our indoor and outdoor gardening spaces.
Today we focus on as many facets of the art and science of containers in the garden as we have contributors, from artful, cutting-edge pot and plant combinations, to long-lived architectural structure, to food production and bringing the great outdoors to those who live indoors. There are endless ways to explore this topic, and these are but a few.

I love container gardening and recommend it to all my clients. I just purchased a vintage Pepsi cola wooden crate that I am going to transform into a succulent crate! Container ideas are endless.
Please share photos of that container of on the Facebook fan page Julie. Thanks for the comments!
